How to make decorative stone more durable?

After cutting the stone, timely wipe off any residual water stains on the stone surface during cutting, and fully air dry it, otherwise it is very easy to cause early rust spots, alkalinity, and other diseases of the stone.

Preparation for handling:
For safety and preparedness, the following preparations can be made according to different situations, such as the quality, specifications, distance, and transportation methods of stone:
1. Large sized boards are securely nailed with fresh wooden blocks;
2. The slats can be bound with iron wire and wooden slats;
3. Precious and small-sized finished products, with sharp corners well protected, packaged in cardboard or wooden boxes;
4. It is strictly prohibited to bundle the white and easily polluting stones with straw ropes;
5. Keep the stone transport truck or cabin clean, and clean if contaminated with coal, oil, or chemicals;
6. Long distance transportation should be covered with tarpaulin to prevent wind, sunlight, and rain;
7. Having a clear plan and thorough planning, not losing or overloading;
8. Handle insurance procedures well and avoid taking chances;
9. The ground on which stone is placed should be hard, flat, and prevent collapse, tilting of the iron frame, and collapse or fracture of the stone.

 

After marble enters the site

1. Check the hardness size specifications and damage of marble.
2. Check the alkali resistance of the back glue on the back of the marble (if the grid cloth is not alkali resistant, it should be removed in a timely manner, and alkali resistant back glue or bottom film forming protective agent should be added).
3. Check if the protective performance of the other five surfaces of marble meets the standard (in shaded and windless areas, dripping water, 60 minutes of water disappearance, no discoloration, deepening, no water spots, watermark penetration of the stone, etc.). If it is decorated in the restaurant environment, oil proof measures need to be tested.

4. The working process for marble six sided protection is as follows:
A. Principle: The six sides of the stone are dry and clean.
B. Bottom surface: After removing the mesh cloth, apply two coats of film-forming alkali resistant protective agent (once dry and then two coats), and sprinkle dry coarse sand particles when the second coat is not dry to enhance the bonding force with the bottom cement layer;
You can also tear off the mesh cloth and choose a high alkali resistant waterproof adhesive to replace the bottom film forming protective agent for even scraping.
C. Other five surfaces: Apply organic silicon penetration protective agent evenly and in sufficient quantities twice. The side surface is easy to absorb due to the lack of smoothness, and the surface is relatively dense. After 30 minutes of application, remove the excess protective agent to avoid leaving spots on the surface.

 

Stone paving

Moisture control: Strictly follow the proportion standard of cement mortar and control the dry wet ratio of moisture for paving. The moisture content of the bottom mortar is generally controlled by the principle of hand gripping into a ball and falling to the ground to bloom.
Of course, it is necessary to comprehensively consider the width of the stone gap and its impact on the evaporation rate of water. In addition, when mixing and laying the mortar on the same day, it needs to be retested the next day, because the evaporation effect gradually reduces the water in the mortar, leading to a decrease in the cement bonding force. This is also one of the reasons that affect the decrease in the adhesion of the back of the stone in the future.

At a room temperature of around 20 degrees Celsius, the ground can only be walked for at least 7 days (please determine whether the vehicle passes through and the weight of the stone based on its compressive and bending strength). After 28 days or more of testing, the stone has been thoroughly firm and dry before grinding, crystallization, and other maintenance treatments can be carried out.
